WHAT IS A MEDICAL MARIJUANA CARD AND HOW DO I GET ONE?
A Medical Marijuana Card is a photo ID card issued by the Florida Department of Health. When you go to a Medical Marijuana Dispensary, you must provide a MMUR ID card or current Florida drivers license or ID card to obtain medical marijuana.

Once your doctor has registered you with the Florida Medical Marijuana Use Registry, Medical Marijuana Card. You will receive an email with a link to fill out the application on the Office of Medical Marijuana Use website. Your application will be reviewed and when approved you will receive an approval email which allows you to visit a dispensary.  The Medical Marijuana ID Card will be sent to you through the mail. You do not have to wait for the ID card to visit a dispensary. Be  sure to have your drivers license on hand.

Typically the state will approve your application within 24 – 48 hours. If there are issues with your application, or you are not a permanent resident, it may take up to 3 to 5 business days for your application to be approved. There is a $75 annual application fee.

WHAT DO I HAVE TO DO TO GET A MEDICAL MARIJUANA RECOMMENDATION?
You must be personally examined by a qualified medical marijuana doctor.  The doctor determines that you have a qualifying condition based on the proof of condition you present, and that the potential benefits of taking medical marijuana outweigh the risks.
DOES MY CONDITION QUALIFY?
It is up to the medical marijuana doctor to approve you. You must have seen a physician in the past for your condition, and provide medical records, prescriptions and/or x-rays for proof of your condition. Follow this link to review the Qualifying Conditions.
DO I HAVE TO BE 18 IN ORDER TO OBTAIN AN EVALUATION?
Medical Marijuana Clinic physicians do not accept patients under the age of 18.
WHAT ARE THE QUALIFICATIONS FOR A CAREGIVER OF A MEDICAL MARIJUANA PATIENT?
  • A caregiver must be 21 years old and complete a caregiver certification course which costs up to $100. The caregiver must pass a background check if he or she is not a close relative of the patient.
  • The caregiver must be the patient’s legal guardian or have a medical power of attorney.
  • No more than one caregiver may be designated for each patient, unless that patient is a minor.
  • Only one patient can be assigned to one caregiver.
  • A caregiver may be employed through hospice.

The caregiver will be registered along with the patient in the Medical Marijuana Use Registry and will receive an ID Card which must be presented with a photo ID when picking up or signing for a medical marijuana prescription.

DOES MY MEDICAL MARIJUANA CARD EXPIRE & DOES IT COST TO RENEW?
Medical Marijuana Cards expire after one year and must be renewed.  The $75 application fee is paid at each renewal. To avoid delays in filling your medical marijuana orders, apply for the renewal 45 days before your card expires.
CAN I REFILL MY PRESCRIPTION FOR MEDICAL MARIJUANA?
Within the 210-day certification period there are three 70-day order periods for Low-THC and Medical Marijuana and there are six 35-day order periods for smokable flower.  At the end of the 210-day certification period, you must visit the medical marijuana doctor again for a new certification.

HOW MUCH IS THE MEDICAL MARIJUANA RENEWAL?

WHAT IS THE MEDICAL MARIJUANA USE REGISTRY?
The Medical Marijuana Use Registry is a secure, online database of ordering physicians and qualified medical marijuana patients. It is maintained by the Florida Department of Health’s Office of Medical Marijuana Use. It is accessible to ordering physicians, law enforcement, dispensing organization staff, and Office of Medical Marijuana Use staff.
WHAT IS THE CANCELLATION POLICY?
We request you allow no less than 24 hour notice if you cannot keep your appointment in order to allow time to fill the time slot with another patient.  Cancellations with less than a 24 hour notice or no shows will be charged a $30 fee.
I HAVE A MARIJUANA CARD FROM ANOTHER STATE, AM I A LEGAL MEDICAL MARIJUANA USER IN FLORIDA?
The State of Florida does not have reciprocity with other states. To obtain your Marijuana Card within Florida and be able to purchase marijuana from a Medical Marijuana Dispensary, you would need to be evaluated by a medical marijuana doctor, who can register you in the Florida State Medical Marijuana Use Registry.
HOW DO I PROVE I AM A FLORIDA RESIDENT?
To prove you are a Florida resident, you must upload a current Florida drivers license or Florida ID to the registry when applying for your medical marijuana card. The license or ID must have your current residence. If not, this will delay the approval of your medical
